Erika A speech-language pathologist for Light Street in Las Vegas

“I joined Learn It because of leadership’s passion for children and the opportunity to collaborate with new Charter schools to develop their speech-language programs.”

What is your role in the organization?

I work with three charter schools in Las Vegas delivering services and developing innovative service delivery models to improve outcomes. As a mother of three, I have also become involved in parent/school trainings to address early language development.

What is the best thing about your job?

The best thing about my job is going to work every day and loving what I do.  I work with a wide range of disabilities such as Autism, DiGeorge syndrome, fluency disorders, language delays and phonological disorders. I am so passionate about working with the kids seeing how the changes in their ability to communicate can change their lives.

Describe a typical day at Learn It.

A typical day would be planning for therapy sessions for the day, writing upcoming IEPs, seeing groups of children, collaborating with teachers, meeting with parents and testing/screening for upcoming meetings.

What advice would you offer potential candidates in your field?

“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life”

If you could sum up working for Learn It in three words what would they be?

Inspirational. Compassionate. Knowledgeable.
